Hello Domain Searcher,

My name is Nico Princely and I have been involved with the Internet since 1996 and while I did start buying domains rather late in the game so to speak. I have made the most of the opportunity that I did have( I still kick my self for passing up the incredible domains that I could have purchased that I did not!) and have made my domains work for my sites. I am just now beginning to start selling off some of my domains to others looking for new domains.

The New Paradigm of The Domain Name Market
I feel that while we have seen people buy domains for $70-100 a name and resell them for $20,000 - $7,000,000 we will now begin to see people buying domains for $20,000 -  $250,000 and even higher to turn right around and resell them in a few months time for even greater prices and profits! I think the day of buying a domain for $15-100 and getting a name worth anything are pretty much over yet the are still a few more golden nuggets left out there if you know where to find them.

The people that bought domains in the beginning had great insight and now the people that are buying domains with the new paradigm in mind will prove to be the next wave of super successful Internet entrepanures. They look at an name and see what it will be worth rather than the $10,000 someone is asking and they will clean up just as we did when we paid $100 for some great names 4 years ago!

What Makes a Domain Name Good?
Often times many people are confused about what makes for a good domain name . I will try to answer this for you below.

We all know that on the Internet your domain name can be as important as your business itself. That is why domain prices have skyrocketed and multi-million dollar record prices are being paid for domains these days!

Factors That Make Up The Value of a Domain:

#1 The Type of Domain. .com .net .org and .cc are the most common names in use by private individuals and companies. There are of course many others. But at this time the most valuable to date have been  .com's fetching muti-million dollar prices. However recently a .cc was sold for $1,000,000 brokered by GreatDomains.com. If at all possible you want a .com domain.

#2 The Size of The Domain. Generally short and one word domains have been the greatest of value with the exception being if the domain is a popular phrase or term such as "ForSaleByOwner.com" which was also brokered by GreatDomains.com and sold for $835,000! But generally the shorter the better such as Wine.com which sold for a reported $3,000,000 or Business.com which was sold for a reported $7,000,000.

#3 The Market Segment The Domain  Belongs To. A name such as Toys.com or Flowers.com would have larger markets than say darts.com or watermelon.com

#4 The Brandability of the Domain. Is it easy to remember and type in? Can you build a brand with the domain. Once again shorter domains are better here generally. Yet you want a very descriptive domain that describes what it is you are selling or offering as few characters and words as possible. The exception in regard to length once again is the use of popular phrases. Also if you have enough money you can brand anything as we have seen with names like Yahoo.com, Google.com or Kozmo.com

#5 The Keywords In The Domain. If your approach to marketing is web based rather than a media blitz such as that of a large corporation with unlimited funding for branding as I just mentioned above it is preferred to have some of your keywords in your domain name as in the name VideoGameSecrets.com, which will do much better in the search engines generating traffic for the site itself than a domain of say RadicalArena.com. A Great approach would be to buy both names and generate traffic with the most search engine friendly of the two names and at the same time brand the most brand able of the two names.

So keep these 5 points in mind when looking for a domain to use for your site or online business. Click Here to see my list of domains that I have for sale!
